The second in a series of albums of Landscapes recordings. This work finds McDermott in one of the oldest old-growth forests in North America. After a three week Jhana meditation retreat at Cloud Mountain in Washington State, Michael spend several days camping in Hoh National Rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington.
Over several days of hiking he recorded the sounds of of the forrest using binaural microphones to create a realistic 3D listening experience. These recording were edited and treated using his "Sonic Photogrpahy" techniques of mixing, blending, exposing, collaging and filtered to reveal the emotional and personal memory artifacts found in the inner landscapes of listening and remembering.
Special thanks to Mick Dodge at Huckleberry Lodge for some personal stories about the indigenous legends of the Hoh Rainforrest.
Mixed at The Center for Vibe Research in Philadelphia, PA.
